Why Olsztyn, Poland Could Be Your Path to a Veterinary Degree
The University of Warmia and Mazury published new, leaner entry requirements for 2026/27. We are happy to be able to support students on their journey to Olsztyn.
Nestled in the heart of Poland's stunning Thousand Lakes region, Olsztyn is home to one of the country's most compelling options for aspiring vets. The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Warmia and Mazury offers a full-time, 11-semester (360 ECTS) veterinary medicine in Poland programme taught entirely in English, leading to a DVM (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) degree with EU recognition. The programme is accredited by the European Association of Establishments for Veterinary Education (EAEVE), meaning graduates can practise across Europe and beyond. The scope of the degree is broad — graduates are qualified to work across all specialisations, including companion animals, farm animals, exotic animals, fisheries and aquaculture, food hygiene, the pharmaceutical industry, and veterinary administration.

The programme is genuinely accessible to international students. Tuition fees are approximately 22,000 PLN (around €5,100) per semester (always check uni website for details and up-to-date fees). Entry requirements are straightforward: a secondary school leaving certificate (one can can apply for veterinary medicine without high CAO points, with your predicted grades only!) and English proficiency at B2 level. Applicants for veterinary medicine in Poland are ranked based on their grades in two out of four subjects — biology, chemistry, mathematics, or physics — and those who don't have eligible grades in those subjects can take an online interview in biology and chemistry instead. Students also benefit from hands-on clinical experience, including access to Poland's only mobile veterinary clinic, and have opportunities to participate in research projects and international exchange programmes.
The university's Kortowo campus is set within a 230-hectare park surrounded by woodland and four lakes, offering a genuinely pleasant environment to live and study, with sports facilities, student clubs, and recreational areas on site. The university has been recognised twice as student-friendly by the Student Parliament of the Republic of Poland. For the 2026/2027 intake, regular enrolment opened on 20 April 2026, with results announced on 17 July — making now the right time to start preparing your application.
