Medical Doctor: A Profession of Public Trust
The medical profession is esteemed and holds a significant level of public confidence; however, there is a declining number of practitioners in this field. This trend poses a potential crisis in the near future. In July 2015, Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski Krakow University received the necessary accreditation to offer medical education and began training future physicians in October 2016, becoming the first non-public university in Poland to do so. Graduates are awarded the title of medical doctor.
The Faculty of Medicine at our university is listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools, which includes accredited institutions that provide medical education. This listing was granted following approval from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, received on February 5, 2021. Being included in this directory enables our students to take the United States Medical Licensing Examination® (USMLE®), a requirement for international candidates seeking to practice medicine in the United States.
Why choose to study Medicine at Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski Krakow University?
The medical program is informed by global educational standards and aligns with contemporary trends in the field. The curriculum is primarily structured around integrated modules that merge various traditional disciplines. Basic science modules focus on body systems, including the nervous, muscular, circulatory, respiratory, gastrointestinal, urinary, and reproductive systems, incorporating elements of anatomy, histology, and physiology. Clinical subjects are also integrated into modules such as cardiology, gastroenterology, and endocrinology, which encompass topics from internal medicine, surgery, paediatrics, and radiology. This comprehensive approach facilitates the development of a holistic and multi-faceted medical perspective among students.
Students benefit from early patient interactions combined with a humanistic approach to education, starting from the outset.

The criteria for admission to the English-taught Medicine program are as follows: candidates must present results from the secondary school-leaving examination in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or Mathematics, or a module that includes at least one of these subjects. Additionally, candidates must demonstrate proficiency in English at a B2 level, in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). A minimum score of 30% on the secondary school-leaving exam is required to qualify for enrollment.
Proficiency in English can be verified through one of the following means: a) results from the secondary school-leaving exam (for candidates who have completed the new exam or an equivalent exam abroad), b) results from the secondary school-leaving exam (for candidates who completed the old exam), c) an entrance exam (for foreign candidates whose secondary school-leaving exam did not include English or only featured an oral component), or d) one of the recognized tertiary education diplomas or language certificates listed below.
For candidates with the new secondary school-leaving exam, admission is based on achieving a score of 60% or higher in the written English component at the advanced or bilingual level. For those with the old secondary school-leaving exam, a minimum grade of 4.0 is required in the written section of the advanced English curriculum. Candidates holding the International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma, issued by the International Baccalaureate Organization in Geneva, must achieve a score of 4 points or higher in the English Higher Level (HL) exam, applicable to programs where English is not the primary language of instruction.
