Studying Medicine, Veterinary Medicine and Dentistry in Poland: What We Told Irish Students at Higher Options and events across Ireland in 2026
Updated: 2 days ago
Confirming string commitment to guiding Irish students and promoting Poland as a great education destination, StudyMedicinePoland.com (SMP) was present at the Irish Times Higher Options 2026 as well as numerous other ICG events across Ireland between September and October 2026. We were the only stand representing third-level education in Poland at all of those events.
Higher Options itself ran at the RDS Main Hall in Ballsbridge from 16 to 18 September, and up to 30,000 students, mature applicants and guidance counsellors were expected. Over the course of September and half of October when we toured Ireland, we spoke to tens of Guidance Counsellors and more than 800 Irish students interested in pursuing degree programmes in Poland.
Our stand
Most questions came from students and parents comparing routes to medicine, veterinary medicine and dentistry. The most common were:
How to study medicine abroad without the HPAT.
What the alternative to CAO medicine points looks like.
How English-taught degrees in Poland are recognised across the EU.
For context on points, the 2026 CAO medicine score is combined out of 865, with successful applicants typically needing around 730 or more.

Panel discussions
Artur Banaszkiewicz, Director and Head of Guidance at SMP, took part in panels on Applications and Careers in Europe at the Irish Times Higher Options again this year. The message was to compare CAO, UCAS and EU application systems early, as the event itself encouraged, and to check each university’s deadlines and entry requirements.
As the number of options increase (approx. 20+ Medicine, 8+ Dentistry, 4 Veterinary Medicine programmes taught in English in Poland), we encourage to schedule school talks or school webinars with us by emailing support@studymedicinepoland.com, so that we can bring comprehensive information to students.
